Introductory, advanced and application specific training courses are held throughout the year.

“Virtual prototyping” using computer based electromagnetic design is vitally important in many application areas today, from DC to RF. In the training courses run by Cobham, course instructors with many years expertise present a series of lectures giving electrical engineers and physicists the benefit of their world class experience in the use of finite element analysis methods.

Basic Level – no previous experience required

Introduction to Opera-3d – 3 days

A course for delegates with an interest in using Opera-3d for simulation of electromagnetic devices. Experience of FEA is useful, but not required. More information on the course is available here.

Intermediate Level – previous experience of Opera required

Introduction to Multiphysics Analysis Opera-3d – 2 days

A course for delegates with an interest in using Opera-3d for multiphysics simulation. Delegates should have some experience of Opera-3d. More infromation on the course is available here.

Introduction to Optimization in Opera – 1 day

This course is for delegates with an interest in using the Opera-3d Optimizer to automatically explore design improvements of Opera models.
Delegates should have some experiences of Opera-2d and/or Opera-3d (preferably both) and using COMI scripts. More information on the course is available here.

Advanced Level – previous experience of Opera required

Introduction to Magnets Analysis in Opera – 2 days

This course is for delegates with an interest in using Opera-2d and Opera-3d for simulation of Magnets; permanent magnets, superconducting and resistive. Delegates should have some experience of Opera. More information on the course is available here.

Introduction to Superconducting Quench Analysis in Opera –½ day

This course benefits delegates requiring a more detailed understanding of Opera-3d for simulation of the quenching process of Superconducting Magnets. Delegates should have some experience of Opera-3d. More information on the course is available here.

Modelling of Electrical Machines with Opera – 2 days

A course for delegates wishing to use Opera for simulation of electrical machines. Delegates should have some experience of Opera-2d and Opera-3d. More information on the course is available here.

Designing electrical machines using Opera Machines Environments and other advanced topics – 2 days

A course for delegates wishing to gain additional knowledge on using Opera for design of electrical machines. Delegates should have some experience of Opera-2d and Opera-3d and preferably have previouslyattended the “Modelling Electrical Machines with Opera” course. Electromagnetic Signatures – 5 days

This five day course covers in details many aspects of modelling electromagnetic signatures, cathodic protection systems and solving inverse electromagnetic sensing problems. Using Opera, this course includes lectures and hands-on sessions. It also provides an opportunity to discuss your own models. We recommend completing the introduction to Opera-3d before taking this course. More information on the course is available here.
