Use of Advanced Scripting Language in the Modelling of Dynamic Systems

Abstract – This paper describes how state-of-the-art Finite Element Analysis (FEA) programs can be used to characterise the dynamic performance of linear electrical machines and actuators. Special emphasis is placed on the use of an advanced scripting language for the characterisation of the mechanical load coupled to the drive, as well as the electronic system driving the device. Aspects of modelling of a reciprocating linear actuator and a linear 3-phase switched reluctance machine are discussed.
