Using the Machines Environment, motor and generator models can be rapidly setup and analysed using parameterized templates. Extensive model customization can be included in the Machines Environments in order to meet the user’s design requirements.
Standard machines available include:
- PM Synchronous
- PM external rotor
- Switched Reluctance
- Synchronous Reluctance
Standard design calculations can be performed to obtain useful results such as back-EMF, cogging torque, load torque, open and short-circuit curves.
Coupled analyses that include thermal and stress calculations are also available in the 3D Machines Environments allowing for quick, automated solution of complex multiphysics problems. Investigate heating effects on material properties and hence machine performance, and also the effect of structural deformations on the torque due to detailed changes in the air-gap.
A “2D Slice” facility allows a single-element-thick model to be generated from a 3D model, which gives results in a fraction of the time. The full model parameters are stored to allow the model to be inflated back to full 3D for a more in-depth analysis of the most promising design.
A direct coupling with the Opera Optimizer allows the refinement and optimization of designs based on user requirements.
